This 2nd Century Buddhist Stupa was built above the Moenjodaro site. When the archaeological team excavated the area in the 1920's, they were surprised to find a much older ancient metropolis underneath. A number of archaeologists worked in different areas of the site. The dig continued intermittently until 1993. Due to the inability to preserve the site from exposure to the elements, the excavation was put on halt. So far, only an estimated 10% of the site has been explored.
