Command and Conquer 3: The Tiberium Wars
Vitals:
Developer(s): EA
Publisher: In-House
Release Date: 2007 Q1
Genre: RTS
The first impressions
I already accomplished the tutorial mission in the demo so I skipped it, but still the first GDI mission should be considered a tutorial that's simplicity is a disgrace to RTS junkies everywhere. That to that,
the graphics are rather impressive for a RTS and all cutscenes are full motion video, featuring some not so known actors as in all of the latest EA games.
The story
You are a young GDI/NOD commander entrusted with many critical missions
from the US to Europe and Australia, the only plot twist EA added to this game is the appearance of the third race; Scrin, who are quite similar to the GDI and NOD in their fighting power. NOD who roams the yellow zones are terrorists while GDI who controls the blue zones are the goody defenders of freedom, all hell breaks loose when NOD starts to think that it's time to get rid of the Tiberium once and for all, which could be accomplished by detonating a Liquid Tiberium weapon. Now by detonating it they would kill anyone left on earth while the chosen ones(people loyal to NOD) would be safe in space, this usual conflict is escalated when GDI uses a ION Cannon to get rid of Kane, the NOD's leader. The giant explosion caused by the stored tiberium under temple prime the third race Scrins to step in to the game.
The downsides
This might be the RTS junky in me talking but I have found none. Besides of course the long pointless dialogs by Kane. Some issues about the weapon usages and a few annoying bugs (I was using an early patch, can't be bothered to update).
The good
GDI kicking NOD's butt. Full motion video cutscenes. Kick ass graphics.
The summary
Another great CnC by EA stepping in the footsteps of its predecessors.
A great game even if you aren't a fan of the RTS genre.
